Tools, materials, technology, inspiring peers. All you need to grow! In our campuses, built with sustainable architecture, open 24/7.
Learn by solving real problems you care about
Interest-driven and collaborative project-based experiences rooted in the realities of learners are the cornerstone of the Kabakoo learning process.
This experiential and collaborative approach allows to make good use of everyone's passion and thus improves not only our collective impact but also the individual learning objectives.
Get challenged by strong mentors
A global network of professionals and entrepreneurs act as coaches and experts-facilitators. They guide and mentor Kabakoo learners, both online and offline. Our mentors are a valuable input source not only to make sure our curriculum stays up-to-date but also for our learners who choose to become entrepreneurs.
Learn from and with your peers
Everyone is a wonderer. Hence, peer learning is paramount at Kabakoo, the House of Wondering. Learning at its best is a social act that must take into account our strengths and differences. The peers are involved in learning not only through collaboration on different projects but also through new technologies allowing exchanges with remote peers.
Campus life
Just like our learning experience, a Kabakoo campus is designed around and for the learner. Tools, materials, technology, inspiring peers. All you need to grow!
A community of wonderers, makers, and innovators
Our academies are open 24/7. The campuses are built and designed to enhance collaboration and learning. They are built with sustainable architecture and equipped with state-of-the-art tools for learning skills to own the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Inclusive and open toward the local communities
Everyone has the right to learn. Through stipends and future-oriented financial mechanisms, we make sure that everyone gets the possibility to learn at Kabakoo. Because we want our learners to build a strong community while being immersed in the population and its problems. We work with the people where they live.
A glimpse into our curriculum
The Kabakoo Learning Experience is based on self-learning
and the exchanges with peers happening during collaborative project work.
Guided learning time is divided into theoretical sessions facilitated by
professionals and experts, workshops, immersion tours to explore
surrounding communities and organizations, and in some cases internships
at local companies. Learners’ progress along the modules is not
linear but rather iterative and interconnected. Here are some of our modules.
Success
Since our launch in July 2018, we have trained more than 530 learners in future-oriented competencies for digital and decentralized manufacturing through our blended learning model. 81% of our learners have previously completed university studies but choose to come to Kabakoo because university does not give them locally actionable competencies.
Kabakoo’s impact is demonstrated by the real-life success of our learners.
Here are some innovative and impactful projects designed and executed by our learners and alumni.
• Building open-source devices to monitor air quality; led to the first citizen platform to measure and fight air pollution in West Africa: Income generation for 3 persons through the selling of monitoring devices
• Setting up a decentralized supply chain for the local production of fabric masks in Mali; already more than 60 000 masks produced and sold; decent work and income for more than 20 families
• 3D-printing of face shields for local hospitals: More than 100 face-shields produced and distributed to local hospitals
• Developing a machine learning algorithm to recognize the origin of African masks: Securing the development of knowledge about African cultural artifact
The 7 habits of Kabakoo
Our digital platforms allow the learners to own their learning process. The 7 habits of Kabakoo and the platforms for tracking projects’ progress build the basis for a formative assessment. The seven habits are to explore the world around them, know themselves, communicate effectively, create, connect and share their work to others, and reflect their thinking. The seven habits consist of 20 dimensions and 64 sub-dimensions. The learners can therefore know precisely where they need to improve their skills in order to reach their goals.
